Makers of small batch, hand crafted ales and lagers.
I spent some time talking to Chuck about his charismatic approach to his flavorful beers. From his Wheat Double IPA to his amazing Margarita beer, they are all solid and enjoyable.
I love this brewery in Chino. I&I has an insane selection of craft brews--about 25+ on average. They do a lot of creative and inventive brews, including Jamiaca, a deliciously red drink made from hibiscus flowers. I love what these guys are doing.
It had been a few years since I last visited I & I. Upon arriving to the brewery I saw no parking spaces and found myself having to park further down by an "Industrial park" Korean church. We proceeded to walk down the parking lot and through the doors of I & I. There was a small sized crowd, however, due to the small tasting room It felt very tight in there. Turns out it was trivia night and unfortunately the place was sort of dead for it being a trivia night. With only 10-12 beers available, the beer selection also seemed dead. In the past, when I had visited I & I, I recall a full beer menu of 25-30 beers. We made our selections and stood around a wooden high top.
Jamaica - more or less an alcoholic version of the Mexican drink. Very tasty but a bit to sweet for my taste.
Tzatziki Saison - Crisp and refreshing. slight hint of fresh cucumbers. I really felt that calling it a Saison is a bit misleading. Nothing about this beer made me feel like it was a saison.
El Dorado RIPA - Very disappointed in this beer. I am a sucker for Rye IPA's. I assume they used El Dorado hops, if this is the case, the El Dorado hops did not play well with the Rye. I felt like there was too much going on, on the palette, which made the beer very noise and at times muddled.
Pekoe Tea Pale Ale - Good beer nice blend of tea and beer.
Porter - Nice roasted grain flavor. Medium bodied. A fantastic example of a well made porter.
Overall I felt the beer selection was slim. The beers were good but nothing really wowed me. In the distant future, I plan to make a return visit to I & I. I hope the selection will be much more diverse.
